Cat Martino, featuring Sufjan Stevens and Chris Powell for Shaking Through

I was recently commissioned by Shaking Through (a Philly based studio that documents artists recording a song) to shoot photos and a video for an upcoming episode. The episode I worked on featured Cat Martino, accompanied by Sufjan Stevens and Chris Powell. Being a Sufjan Stevens fan, I couldn’t miss it.

Shaking Through documents the artist’s process along with the engineer and producer’s commentary which is great to see as a fan / music lover, but also if your a audio gear nerd. They’ve got a special thing goin’ on for sure.

Esquire Songwriting Challenge 2012

I shot short music videos featuring Craig Finn, Chris Daughtry, Anthony Hamilton, Rhett Miller and Sam Roberts for Esquire’s Spring Songwriting Challenge. We shot in Joshua Tree and 29 Palms California, two really special places, it was a really special trip.

NEEDTOBREATHE – Keep Your Eyes Open

I shot and lit a music video for NEEDTOBREATHE in Charleston, SC a few months back. Really great guys, glad I was a part of it. Also, my eyes made a brief cameo in the video, so famous.

Flagship – Salisbury, NC

Last month I was commissioned to shoot publicity photos and a teaser video for the North Carolina band, Flagship. The band was out in Salisbury, NC recording their new album at a studio next to an old rock quarry. It was a great time for sure, not to mention I got to spend some quality time with the Road Hog and Jeremy Current. Right now the guys are in Austin at SXSW scrappin’ it up with the rest of ‘em. Gabriel Kahane – Where are the Arms

I’m really proud to have been a part of Gabriel Kahane‘s latest album titled “Where are the Arms”. Gabe is an extremely talented musician, and I had the honor to work on his album artwork with him and the oh-so-talented Cassandra Jenkins. His album release party was last week where I finally got my hands on a physical copy of the CD. It looks and sounds pretty incredible.

Gabe Kelly – Recording in Nashville

I hung out with Gabe in Nashville in January this year as he was finishing writing his album, which took place in an RV that was parked friend’s backyard. A few months later he asked me back to document the recording. He pulled together some of the Cardinals (Ryan Adam’s backing band) as well as a few other amazingly talented musicians. Here are a few photographs from the session. They tracked everything live to tape and made look easy…pros.
