I was recently commissioned by Shaking Through (a Philly based studio that documents artists recording a song) to shoot photos and a video for an upcoming episode. The episode I worked on featured Cat Martino, accompanied by Sufjan Stevens and Chris Powell. Being a Sufjan Stevens fan, I couldn’t miss it.

Shaking Through documents the artist’s process along with the engineer and producer’s commentary which is great to see as a fan / music lover, but also if your a audio gear nerd. They’ve got a special thing goin’ on for sure.

Esquire Songwriting Challenge 2012

I shot short music videos featuring Craig Finn, Chris Daughtry, Anthony Hamilton, Rhett Miller and Sam Roberts for Esquire’s Spring Songwriting Challenge. We shot in Joshua Tree and 29 Palms California, two really special places, it was a really special trip.

I shot and lit a music video for NEEDTOBREATHE in Charleston, SC a few months back. Really great guys, glad I was a part of it. Also, my eyes made a brief cameo in the video, so famous.

Flagship – Salisbury, NC

Last month I was commissioned to shoot publicity photos and a teaser video for the North Carolina band, Flagship. The band was out in Salisbury, NC recording their new album at a studio next to an old rock quarry. It was a great time for sure, not to mention I got to spend some quality time with the Road Hog and Jeremy Current. Right now the guys are in Austin at SXSW scrappin’ it up with the rest of ‘em. Produced by Brooklyn’s 1000% Productions and directed by Phil Pinto, it was by far the most extravagent production I’ve ever been a part of.

Live at Preservation Hall: Louisiana Fairytale

Featuring My Morning Jacket and the Preservation Hall Jazz band, shot last summer in New Orleans. I was one of two shooters for the film, I couldn’t be more proud of the final film. It’s premiering at SXSW this week in Austin, TX.

“For fifty years the Preservation Hall Jazz Band has played to keep the traditions of New Orleans jazz alive, both at home and on tour around the world. Along the way, they have brought in collaborators of all musical stripes to play, honor, and reinterpret America’s first true art form.

Louisiana Fairytale documents their collaboration with American rock band My Morning Jacket, showing a legendary group of New Orleans musicians passing on traditions and inspiring a new generation. The film features an intimate performance by both bands in the French Quarter’s historic Preservation Hall.”
